When parents keep surprises from their kids, it makes life so FUN!!! Rich and I booked a fun San Diego getaway in November for March and kept it a secret from the kids until we arrived in Cali!
Legoland or BUST!!!
Waiting "pretty" patiently and watching airplanes....but where are we going?!?!
The family of 5...yes, we found out about 2 weeks before our trip that we were expecting a new addition...so all the Meyer kids went on vacation this time!!!
Both were a little anxious to fly...and so were mom and dad, but with kindles and snacks (and a super quick flight), we made it successfully to San Diego with great travelers!
Up....up....and AWAY!
Sometimes we just have to entertain ourselves....
WE MADE IT!
The CAT is out of the bag and we have arrived at the Legoland Hotel! This hotel was so much fun and the kids loved (and so did we) that EVERYTHING was catered to the kids having an AMAZING time!
Check out these BUNK BEDS...the kids have wanted bunk beds for at least a year and this sealed the deal.
Off to explore the hotel...pretty sure the kids were so impressed here that they couldn't even imagine how awesome Legoland was going to be.
Day ONE....and off to the park.
I have to say I am a Disney gal to the core...but seeing Legoland through Griffin and Millie has definitely made me realize we will be back!
The first LINE....the kids weren't quite ready to wait in lines, but they did really well. Considering they lose their minds most times we are at the grocery store for 5 minutes, I didn't know how a 20-30 minute line would go!
1st ride was the SAFARI...and a huge hit. Girls with girls...Boys with boys!
Millie wanted to "ride the horses" and Griffin was not up for this. Pretty sure the ride went a little faster than Millie thought and it was the only time we hit up the carousel.
The BEST ride of the trip....the Lego cars the kids got to drive themselves. We must have done these 2,586 times in the 2 days and each time the kids had more fun and were a little better behind the wheel.
Another line...and fun selfies to keep us entertained!
Sky Patrol Pilots reporting for duty!
Every ride. Every adventure. Catered just to kids Griffin and Millie's age and so much fun! The helicopters we a close second and we did these a ton of times too!
The weather was great and we had such a fun day...the firetrucks were a little more above our skill level, but we had fun!
You know she is having fun when the tongue is out...
Boats....did we really just find BOATS. Yes, and they were so fun! (I mean, we had such a great time I sound like a broken record, but family fun and these smiles is totally my jam)!
First Aid...this guy had a mystery back scratch show up...so it was time for band-aids and a quick stop to first aid.
Feeling much better after an ice cream and finding a new Lego set in treasure chest back in the hotel.
A busy morning meant naps all around...need a little power up so we could hit the park later that night.
Back for some more fun....Evening style!
Back for some favorites...
And a new one....NIJAGO!!!
3D ride where we get to fight the bad guys together...
Millie wasn't the biggest fan of the ride...but it did turn into one of our favorites before we headed home.
PIZZA time (Thanks Jill for all the fab food selections)!
You've heard the saying Monkey See, Monkey Do...well, now you know what it looks like at our hotel in the morning!
Off to explore life outside Legoland...and we headed to explore Torrey Pines.
Fun family hike and breathtaking views!
I mean...talk about this view!
Griffin was so excited to explore the beach...and get his toes in the sand.
Millie wanted to keep her distance from the beach...so we stayed a little future up and loved watching the boys.
We found a fun lunch spot where we watched hang gliders and had amazing sandwiches...such a fun find.
I mean...we had to try it, right?!?!
Legoland evening dance parties were a HIT!!! Pajamas and fun tunes...just in time for the kids to burn the rest of their energy and pass out for the night!
Park day two and the kids were beyond excited! They knew how fun Legoland was and were ready to hit all their favorites and some more!
Holy smokes....KAI was in park! The kids were stoked.
Let's do this day TWO...with early park entrance, we went straight to Ninjago.
Back for more fun on cars....
And the wild pirate ship ride!
The sun was blazing and we decided to explore the Lego cities by boat...so fun!
Griffin was being braver than ever and wanted to try all the rides.
While the boys were on another ride, Millie wanted to get her face painted.
She became a beautiful flamingo.
Griffin decided he wanted to as well...and he became a snake.
The smiles on their faces....this trip was such a blast!
We even made Legos with our names on them.
Millie tried something new too...and was not a fan! So proud for her trying it!
This was one of G's favorites and he rode it a few times on Day 2.
Griffin wanted to try the BIG rollercoaster...so Rich and Millie waited for us.
Yes, HE did it!
We DID it! He wanted it to stop about .5 seconds in, but we lasted the whole ride.
This is NOT the face of someone enjoying the roller coaster!
Ending the day with a little safari ride and one more roller coaster!!!
That's a wrap LEGOLAND! You have our hearts and lots of fun memories!
We ended up with one injury that took Griffin out...something with his ankle which meant NO more walking and a little challenge when trying to get home...but we pulled together and he was a trooper.
Last morning at Legoland...sad to say goodbye, but happy for all the memories.
This is what traveling with an injured person looks like...next time we will pack lighter (or not)!
This guy got a special treat from the pilot and got to check out the cockpit.
And here we go...3 in one row and Rich somewhere else...that's what happens when you switch flights to get home a little earlier!
Overall, this trip EXCEEDED all MEYER expectations and we can't wait to go back! Pretty sure the kids ask at least one time each week if we can go to LEGOLAND for <insert any reason>!
Family FUN is totally my jam and making forever memories make my heart happy!
