Chukar...our first born, our first son, our first love has had so many health issues along the way, but our love for him will never waiver. He is the sweetest, craziest, best puppy around and he will always have a very special place in our life!
The story, the journey continues....
Where do we start, I guess with the most recent ailments.
Chukar had an irritated eye a few weeks ago and we started to get concerned. We watched it for a few days thinking it would heal on it's own or we would take him to see the vet, but it didn't bother him so we waiting about 3 days.
Saturday, 2/28 - we noticed the redness not going away and he was a little clumsy. Being a Saturday, our vet was closed for the day so we went to SVS in Kirkland. They ran a few tests and let us know that Chukar had no vision in his right eye and we should visit an eye doctor.
We were able to get into Kirkland Animal Eye late Saturday afternoon for a few tests and no answers, however, we did get some drops and medication. We continued on that route until our recheck.
Thurday, 3/4 - back to AES in Kirkland and there was no improvement. Next steps were full lab workups with blood, x-ray, ultrasound, urine analysis and more.
Wednesday, 3/10 - back to Juanita Vet for Chukar's big test day...he is such a trooper!!! A special treat from Starbucks after his tests.
We have little answers and more questions with his health. The journey continues and he will have more visits in the near future when we are done with the first treatment regime. At this point, it doesn't appear that the sight in the eye will come back, but the questions of his health and concerns that he won't injure himself remain. We are staying positive and know that he is a trooper! He is still the happiest, cutest dog we know...and will just be a little more spoiled with all this extra attention!
