Summer is hard to group/categorize/summarize/detail....so it's going to just be CHUNK 1. Mission Trips, Birthday, Running, Lake, Pool and all the other chaos that we crammed in from the last day of school until the 4th of July. Seriously, there was a COMPLETE summer in these first 30 days, but it only makes up about 1/3 summer. I am so grateful for each of these moments and am proud of the growth our family has had this summer....it definitely hasn't been easy! Kids stepping up in ways I wasn't ready for, God continuing to guide our path, challenges in front of us and choosing to be grateful in each season of this.
The picture above marks my favorite...it was the night before Griffin left to serve in Mexico and Millie headed to serve in Wenatchee. It marks a bond of these siblings that I'm so grateful for. I laugh because they misbehave, they aren't always kind to each other, they are constantly learning and growing and sometimes as a mom I have no idea what to do...but they are kids and they are continue to shine and I'm grateful for the front row seat to watch it all unfold.
So here goes a recap of sorts...all out of timeline order, but captured for the Meyer scrapbook.
Griffin was the first to head out...bright and early at 4am to head to San Diego and then cross the border to serve in Ensenada. His group was filled with dynamite boys growing and a leader who shines for Jesus. Enough for this mama to know that I could trust he was in the right place.
Made it to San Diego and busted out the Guitar in the airport to sing some worship music.
On the same day that G headed out to serve in Mexico, Rich and Millie left to serve in Wenatchee.
They'd arrived and now it was time to serve! I think the next group of pictures can't be narrated by me, but fun to share what they were up to.
Rich and his team in Wenatchee.
Worship time in Mexico!
Work time!
Millie and her crew in Wenatchee - serving at the Salvation Army, a church and other outreach areas.
The best part...handing over the keys of the house they built.
Friday FUN Day before heading home.
He's pretending...but he's also SPENT!
After a long sleep, he was ready to conquer the day...with a special mama latte!
Everyone home safe back together and recharging from the time serving!
Trips to the lake...almost too many to count. We definitely woke up more weekends at the lake than in Bothell and I'm so grateful for that!
Summer started with a birthday party for one of LJ's friends...and Griffin's buddy's little sis! Fun times with balloons in the park.
MOVE UP DAY at CHURCH...off to the 1st grade class room!
Special time with bubba...this kid has grown up and grown into such a young man this summer. Cherishing all his wisdom he shares with me.
Back pack clean up happened before AUGUST...documented HERE!!!
Special visit to Auntie Roxy who had a hard summer of recovery. Praying as she continues to gain strength!
And this girl challenged me to run with her...and complete a 5k! A fun JUNE filled with many miles and chats!
What is summer without a trip to the dollar tree in your swimsuit with friends?!?!
Followed by the pool, of course!
A quick visit to tri-cities and a stop to visit my cousin.
More lake walks and runs...all summer long!
Father's Day HAUL for Richie!!!
Rich has finally found his early morning fishing buddy!
To the beach or bust!
And there is a new captain at the wheel.
Ahhh guitar, the love and hate of it. Griffin was struggling early summer, but has rekindled his love and is ready to dig deep and shoot for Varsity (i.e. worship at church).
A rainy day Saturday walk with the crew.
Leighton and I had a special few days while everyone was on their missions...from movies, to soccer, to slumber parties, burgers, treats and more.
And then I hit 500!!!!!
We have an 11 year old...and mom got a special morning to celebrate her :)
Project Summer - OFFICE (COMPLETE)!
Cousin Fun Day to celebrate Millie's birthday!!!!
Millie's vision for her birthday was a hang session with her friends where they planted succulents, hung out in the hot tub and chatted. I think we nailed it.
These planters turned out the cutest.
To see the amazing group of girls that God has placed around her makes my mama heart so happy...she is truly blessed with these young ladies!
And then we were off again.....
Consider us addicts...we love a good afternoon coffee and ice cream stop.
I cherish the lake because I unplug...mostly! I am working on this when we are home too to just enjoy this season and not worry so much about the lists or the dirt on the floor. Being present and enjoying these littles while they are still little-ish!
When the neighbors invite you our for a fun day on the "fancy" boat!!!
Mom gave it a try....
Millie earned PRO-status.
I thank GOD every day for the "slow" summers at the lake where my kids work on being kids and building their bonds as siblings!!!
4th of July Fun....
Homemade Ice Cream - take 1!
Sunkissed cheeks and a summer well spent...and it's just the beginning!
Fun fireworks too...I can't take a picture to save my life, but it was amazing!
Wrapping up 4th of July weekend back at home with a sunset walk and chat. Give me all these moments...but also help me be grateful for each of them. Summer has been bumpy to say the least, but I see these smiles, the real ones, from the real moments and I know we are all going to be ok.
